Seems that 16 year old Kimberley Swann has found out the hard way that it can be risky posting comments on Facebook about your job.
Kimberley, just three weeks into her admin post with a company in Clacton, Essex, suddenly found herself joining the growing ranks of the unemployed when her boss found she had been telling the world that what she did was boring.
She argued that she hadn’t actually named the company in her comments, but that didn’t cut any ice.
In response to her sacking, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber argued that employers should be a bit more thick-skinned.
Apart from that, it’s a pity her employer wasn’t a bit more understanding about a young and somewhat naïve employee and just had a quiet word with her. And anyway, what happened to free speech?
