“Always look on the bright side of life…”

by Robert Hunt on April 23, 2009

If businesses are to survive the recession then management needs to stay positive – that’s the message from the Institute of Leadership & Management.

But the message is not just some kind of feel-good wish factor. It is based on in-depth interview with bosses of over 50 SMEs which revealed that they believe a positive outlook is essential in these difficult times.

They recognise, of course that thinking positive alone will not get them out of the current economic woes, but they do say that such an attitude, combined with a purposeful approach and the ability to develop innovative solutions, is essential.

Doctors often say that will power can have a remarkable effect when people are very ill and so maybe thinking and acting positively in business will help. Only time will tell!
