Lack of top-level leaders in the NHS?

by Robert Hunt on April 24, 2009

There is apparently a growing number of top jobs falling vacant in the NHS, according to the HSJ (Health Service Journal).

It reports that Andrew Way, chief executive at the Royal Free Hampstead Trust has become the fifth London chief exec to announce their resignation in less than three months. In addition, the chief executive of Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has lost his job and two out of 10 strategic health authorities are lacking permanent chief executives.

The need for a new pool of talent has already been recognised by the NHS with major plans for a new leadership development initiative.

Fuse Learning provides services to several parts of the NHS bodies. We have now introduced a programme to help NHS organisation meet the challenges of developing and nurturing tomorrow’s leaders, utilising our proven efficient and cost-effective methodology.
