Joining forces over stress

by Robert Hunt on June 5, 2009

Nice to see three disparate bodies getting together to help employers tackles stress levels at work.

New guidance, jointly funded by the CIPD, the Health and Safety Executive and Investors in People has been launched as part of a project to identify the management behaviours that will help organisations reduce stress at work.

Apparently stress is now the second biggest cause of employee absence behind musculoskeletal conditions, with the situation set to get much worse in the coming years.

Unfortunately, some employers – including their HR and occupational health people – don’t seem to recognise that stress, if left unchecked or unmanaged, can trigger off all sorts of health conditions.
