Job title competition

by Robert Hunt on June 7, 2009

Local government and the NHS love dreaming up lengthy job titles for people. But the government seems to be even worse.

On his BBC TV programme this morning Andrew Marr seemed to upset Business Secretary Lord Mandelson a little by quoting his full working title: Her Majesty’s First Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills and Lord President of the Council – which, Marr said, roughly translates as ‘Top Dog’.

However, Mr Marr was, perhaps, being a little too kind. He could have also added that the former Peter Mandelson sit in the Lords as Baron Mandelson of Foy in the county of Herefordshire and Hartlepool in the county of Durham.

I’d love to see his business card! But can anyone beat him?
