How many times do you hear that whilst abroad? Spoken by Brits who cannot be bothered to learn even a few simple words and phrases to help them get by!
Its not that the Brits can’t learn other languages, but because they can’t be bothered, or because they have had a bad experience of language teaching at school.
Now job board multilingualvacancies.com says that organisations need to be developing language skills within their teams and hiring people with language abilities in order to help the UK out of the recession and emerge from the downturn with the edge over their competitors.
They say that recent research showed that the British economy loses out on billions of pounds worth of contracts a year because of the lack of language skills in its workforce.
