Now here’s a crafty wheeze. Take on new staff. Then dismiss them at the point at which they are due to they gain full employment rights and so qualify for the right to claim unfair dismissal.
Sounds like some throwback to Victorian mill-owners to me. But it’s all perfectly legal. And which organisation is the latest to employ the tactic?

Not surprisingly, the organisation has been strongly criticised by the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS).
Surely Acas should lead by example, given that people look to it for guidance on employment issues?
