CBI Upstages Government over Adult Skills

by Robert Hunt on November 10, 2009

Those smart people at the CBI have stolen a march by coming out with a report about the funding of adult skills training – just days before the government White Paper on skills is published.

The CBI says that the £4 billion of public money currently spent on adult skills should be put to more effective use, especially when we are all feeling the pinch.

Its proposals include cutting back on ‘nice to have’ but non-essential training courses, diverting funding from basic skills training and putting more into areas as such as science, technology, and engineering.

Of course whether or not the government will take any notice is a different matter…
