Ever chucked in a job because of bad management? Nearly half of the people questioned for a new survey say that have.
The survey, conducted for the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) also revealed that half believe that they could do a better job than their current manager and almost half said they would be prepared to take a pay cut, in order to work with a better manager.
There seem to have been numerous surveys over the last few years in which people cited bad management. But are things really getting worse, or do employees actually resent being managed at all?
We seem to be in a society today that has less and less respect for rules, conventions and authority, and maybe that has something to do with the apparent discontent. That said, many managers have never had any formal training for their role. Employers should ensure that their managers have the right mix of skills – including good people skills – to perform effectively.
